Colic means abdominal pain and abdominal pain in horses can be severe. There are different types of colic but more specific types such as Spasmodic or Impaction Colic. Both are painful and both must be treated as emergencies. Symptoms can include sweating, drop in temperature, rolling, etc. Colic can be mild and may simply cured or it can be severe as euthanasia. Preventions include have clean drinking water and always keep it warm in the winter because horses can be more susceptible to impaction colic, as they don't like ice cold water. Make sure your horse has regular dental check-ups to make sure your horse can grind food properly.
